Special Order Memory Quilt

This is a special order memory quilt that I have been working on for a customer

The customer supplied the materials (jeans and old uniforms of his) and gave me a large degree of artistic freedom for this project.

It has been an adventure to see how it all come together in one quilt!

I hope he loves his new personalized quilt!

I had SO MUCH fun creating all of the fun details, and piecing it all together.

I loved how the overlay came out....

And THEN I saw it included in the set up of her booth....

Pure, glorious fun!!!

This week is the critical time for me to decide if we are moving or not. I REALLY WANT to move. I don’t like our house, it is cold and the heating is poor, it is all electric and I am going BROKE with that, and it is older with A LOT character quirks (also known as issues!). Overall it does not meet our needs or make me happy!

I have found a house that I REALLY like and it would meet our needs great. It has EVERYTHING on my wish list, plus some! But it is a stretch to do this right now. A big step of faith!

1)    I don’t want to move all of this inventory! It needs to sell and go to its new home!

2)    Why not have a moving sale?? It would decrease the inventory I have to move AND raise funds to help with the move!!!

Coalinga Craft Show 2011

The December Craft show for Coalinga is one I always do. I enjoy going over to help my grandma, and I always take some of my treasures too, because people come to this show to SHOP!

I also REALLY enjoy setting up the bigger booth that Grandma and I always get here :-) It is fun to merchandise with more space to really show off!

For this show I had new quilt displays that were GREAT!!! Sometimes my father's great finds really are great!

 

I have done REALLY well with the advent calendars this year. Not so much at this show, but over all really well! It was fun to actually see them all three displayed together. I don't think I have had them all done at one time to do this before... they have been selling too fast!

Unique hair treasures is something I have really enjoyed creating this year. I am going to have to take some pictures and get some of these up on Etsy!

As always, my unique jewelry did really well. I have a few of these pieces left, and need to get them up on Etsy too.... so many pictures to take, so little time!

Since I closed the store front shop last year I don't have all the display items I used to have at my finger tips for craft shows, but I think that the unique, quick  and easy ones we have put together are working really well. I like the look of the last few booths we have done!

This show was ALL about quilts! I was thrilled and amazed that we sold SIX of the queen sized quilts at this show!!! Now we get to play with new ones!

As always, this was a wonderful show and we did really well. Can't wait to go back next year!

New Quilt Tops!

There are some new quilt tops around here....

Quiet beautiful if I do say so myself!! LOL

But I am not sure which one to quilt up first, won't you help me decide?

First up...

This beautiful one in golds, greens and reds with black and whit polka dots as the constant

Beautiful fall colors in a queen sized top

Lots of subtle texture, but no overly big prints

Should I finish this one off first?

Or there is this springy number.. 

With it's fresh yellows, white and green it would be perfect for spring.

And we all know that come January any reminder of spring is welcome...

Again, the prints are subtle and pretty.

So should I do this one first??

Up next is this fun girly top... 

With lots of pink and block and white prints there is contrast, fun and flirty going on in this top!

I think it is very eye catching and a great focal statement...

So maybe I should finish it off first....

The last one done is this fun number... 

To me it is the most striking of the group...

I love the bold colors set off with the snow white on white print.

And it is the most likely to be accepted by men, color wise...

So maybe I should finish it off first!

As you can see, I need help deciding what to do!

Give Thanks Calendar!

Have you seen this AWESOME calendar???

I think that it is SO GREAT that I just have to sing it's praises to you!

The Give Thanks Advent Calendar is a GREAT tool to use in your family, with a class or group, or even with a study group. The way that we have used this in our family is each day at dinner time we go around and say what we are thankful for that day. We wrote down our answers on a small card and placed the card in the pocket of the calendar. At the end of the month I complied all of the cards and put copies in each child’s scrapbook, that way years later they can see what they were thankful for! I have also put prayer points in the pockets, and each day we have prayed for the points on cards. Another thought I had, but have yet to do, is to put acts of service on cards in each day and teach my kids how great doing an act of service can be! As you can see there are TONS of great uses for this wonderful hanging.

*This IDEA is not my own, I have seen many of these, but this kit is my own personal spin on it, and my way of letting you make this project YOUR OWN!*

Since we enjoy our calendar so much and I think it is such a GREAT teaching tool with kids, I have put together some for my Etsy shop! There are two ways that you can make this yours RIGHT NOW, just in time for this years Thanksgiving season (although we use ours all year long at various times!)

The first way that you can make this yours is to but a KIT that has everything you will need in it to create this with YOUR family!

Kits are READY TO GO and can ship out TODAY Priority, so you would have it JUST in time for this year! If you would like to purchase a kit, go HERE!

Each kit includes:

~A background piece that is 24 x 34, with a 1.5 inch rod pocket already stitched across the top.

~30 pre-cut pockets, and one rectangle for the title area.

~Pre-cut letters (give, THANKS) and numbers (1-30) in the colors shown in the pictures. (The numbers and the word give are on self-stick felt, the word THANKS is not)

~the “treasures” shown in the second picture (or VERY close to those exact treasures, no kit has less, some have slightly different items than pictured)

~detailed instructions on how to complete your calendar

What you will need to provide:

~Glue (I suggest E2000 or FabriTack)

~Imagination

~I dowel or ribbon to hang the finished hanging

*OPTIONAL: each calendar CAN be made with just glue, OR you can sew the pockets on like I did. I like sewn pockets for longevity to use it year after year, but this project CAN be completed as a no sew project if you like.

 The second way that you can make this yours is buy purchasing a pre assembled wall hanging! I have do all the work and you just have to ENJOY your calendar!!!
