Special Order Memory Quilt

This is a special order memory quilt that I have been working on for a customer

The customer supplied the materials (jeans and old uniforms of his) and gave me a large degree of artistic freedom for this project.

It has been an adventure to see how it all come together in one quilt!

I hope he loves his new personalized quilt!

Sometimes you have those projects that are a pain in the keester ....

Other times you have a project that is an an absolute joy to work on.

This recent project for my dear friend Lindy over at Poppy Soap Company ...

Was BEYOND a joy to work on!

I had SO MUCH fun creating all of the fun details, and piecing it all together.

I loved how the overlay came out....

And THEN I saw it included in the set up of her booth....

Pure, glorious fun!!!

I adore Lindy.

I adore her business.

And I LOVE her choice in fabric creators!

Can't wait to work with Lindy and Poppy Soap Company again soon!

Coalinga Craft Show 2011

The December Craft show for Coalinga is one I always do. I enjoy going over to help my grandma, and I always take some of my treasures too, because people come to this show to SHOP!

I also REALLY enjoy setting up the bigger booth that Grandma and I always get here :-) It is fun to merchandise with more space to really show off!

For this show I had new quilt displays that were GREAT!!! Sometimes my father's great finds really are great!

 

I have done REALLY well with the advent calendars this year. Not so much at this show, but over all really well! It was fun to actually see them all three displayed together. I don't think I have had them all done at one time to do this before... they have been selling too fast!

Unique hair treasures is something I have really enjoyed creating this year. I am going to have to take some pictures and get some of these up on Etsy!

As always, my unique jewelry did really well. I have a few of these pieces left, and need to get them up on Etsy too.... so many pictures to take, so little time!

Since I closed the store front shop last year I don't have all the display items I used to have at my finger tips for craft shows, but I think that the unique, quick  and easy ones we have put together are working really well. I like the look of the last few booths we have done!

This show was ALL about quilts! I was thrilled and amazed that we sold SIX of the queen sized quilts at this show!!! Now we get to play with new ones!

As always, this was a wonderful show and we did really well. Can't wait to go back next year!

Spina Bifida Awareness Merchandise

On Facebook I have heard some interest in having this image made into mouse pads, so I thought I would check out some pricing for you all, and make some of these up!

For this image, the pad would be 7.75 inches by 9.25 inches and  1/4 inch thick polyester with black rubber backing. The price for this item (including shipping) would be $15.00

I also wanted to throw out there that I can put this image (or any image that is not copyrighted) on pretty much anything... Including these super cool Stainless Steele coffee mugs and Stainless Steele water bottles!

The water bottles would be $20.00 and the travel mugs would be $24.00 (prices include shipping)

If you would like to include your name or your child's name we would be happy to customize these at no extra charge. If you would like to add a photo of your child we could add that for an additional $3.00 :) (you would need to email me a digital image for the pictures!)

I will be taking orders until Monday October 10th, then placing my order for supplies. I will be able to ship these out by Tuesday October 18!

Wedding Garter

In July I had the honor of making the garters for a special wedding!!

It was very special for me to take the ideas that this dear bride had, then make them into reality for her very special day!

Even though I did not get to go to this wedding (it was just not financially possible for the kids and I unfortunately) I was there in a small way!

A New Piece in the SB Awareness Line...

I had my jewelry making tools and toys out today to complete a few orders that I had piled up.

 After making some beautiful pieces for some dear friends I really wanted to create something new. I have been toying with an idea for a new piece for the Spina Bifida Awareness line that I really wanted to make.

You see, when many of us SB parents received the news that we had a child with Spina Bifida we did not hear medical professionals telling us encouraging things. Many of us heard worst case scenarios. Some of us were lucky enough to just get "we don't know"s. But I don't think any of us learned how BLESSED we would be by our special children! And that is what I wanted this new piece to focus on... the BLESSING of Spina Bifida!

Because I have a child with Spina Bifida I am...

 BLESSED to have a charismatic son who has spirit and strength to overcome ANYTHING life throws at him.

BLESSED to watch my son prove doctors, therapists and other medical professionals wrong daily.

BLESSED to have a special group of friends that I doubt I would have met otherwise.

BLESSED to be completely, 100% dependant on the Lord ALL THE TIME.

BLESSED to be involved in FABULOUS organizations like Project Surf Camp, Spina Bifida Kids, Day of Discovery and the likes which are FILLED with passionate, encouraging people who dare to dream big like I do for my child!

BLESSES to be mommy to a miracle every single day, even when that miracle has me wanting to disown him, I still have him here on earth!

Gift Ideas!

Recently I have had some birthday parties sneak up on me and catch me unprepared!

The first one was an 8th birthday for one of Audrey's friends.

I knew about the party, and even what I wanted to make the little girl, but then all of the sudden it was ON me and I wasn't ready!

The sweetheart loves purple, and like dresses and skirts, so I wanted to make her a little skirt. I guess either I don't love purple, or I like it so much I use it all up, because I had a HARD time finding purple fabric in my totes (and when I say my totes, we all know that mean at least 10 HUGE totes, right?) But any who, I can up with these two purple prints and combined them... I think it came out cute!

And what skirt is complete without a matching hair accessory??

Audrey went through my yo yo box and found the center one that she thought looked good with the two prints I was using, then she picked out buttons too! I think she has a good eye for cute things... kinda like her mommy :)

The other party was for our neighbor boy... he was turning 3 and I was drawing a complete blank for a three year old boy....

Then I came up with this... a personalized super hero cape!!!

This was super easy to make and SUCH a hit! I think I have a new go to gift for boys!!

Actually, this was so well received that I have orders for two more and I decided to offer it in my Etsy shop HERE!  I am excited to do more of these, it was so much fun!

AND I learned a little secret with this project.....

I got my Cricut to cut fabric!!

I have been trying and trying to get it to cut fabric, and I FINALLY got it to on this project! So exciting!!!

New Hair Pretties

I have been on a creative kick around here!

The kids have been sick, therefore we have been stuck inside, and I needed a project that was easy to set down and pick back up again so.....

 I tried this idea for Pin Wheel Hair Clips...

Aren't they JUST PERFECT for summer???

I think they will be adorable and Audrey has already claimed some as her own!

This fabric combo is Audrey's favorite, the pink has butterflies AND glitter on it, what little girl won't like that?

After I played with these for a while I worked on another order for a local boutique that carries my hair pretties....

But of course I over created (what can I say, I was in a mood!) so some of these will be hitting the Etsy shop soon too! The rest of them can be found at Fairyscape right here in Los Osos!

Custom Mother's Day Bracelet

For Mother's Day I wanted to make a unique gift for my mom.

I have recently been playing with jewelry stamping, so I thought that would be fun to try.

Now normally I would start with a necklace, but there were two problems with that theory. First, my mom ALWAYS wears a rose pendant that my father gave her that matches her wedding ring. And second, there are WAY too many of us for a necklace! So I went with a bracelet even though she usually does not wear bracelets.... Maybe this one will be special enough that she will wear it, otherwise I will find a shadow box to mount it in for her!

I chose to do this piece in Copper, even though I have mostly been working in Sterling Silver. My mom wears rose gold everyday, and almost NEVER silver, so I hoped this would blend with what she wore more!

The three names together are my brothers and I, her children. The other side, the one with tags galore, are her grandchildren (this really makes it look like Shawn and I have been busy..... oh well!)

I chose the word BLESSED because I was thinking of a Proverbs 31 mother, and how blessed my mom is.

And each little hanging pendant was hand made by me too!

This piece was LOTS of fun to make, and very dear to my heart!

I hope my mom LOVES it!

Your Local Deal

One of my recent projects was very interesting....

It was a 3 dimensional costume to be used in filming a commercial for a local company.

The concept was a HUGE 3 foot coupon that would make Coupon Man. Coupon Man is a clumsy but helpful dude, who literally runs INTO people and then gives them coupons for what they need. This costume, in addition to needing to be large, needed to be soft and spring back into form in seconds. Each section was filled with 3 inch thick foam to hold it's shape, yet still be soft and springy.

It was a simple and fun project, and unfortunately these pictures do not do it justice, but I think that they do show that I am willing to get creative and do some inventive things!
